TRUEFOAM Builds EPS Product Lines By Joann Sherwood, Chronicle-Herald, Mail-Star From modest beginnings in rented facilities on Robie Street in Halifax, TRUEFOAM has grown to become the Atlantic region's largest manufacturer of insulation. The firm employs about 100 people in sales, administration and various types of manufacturing, with plants in Burnside, Fredericton and Newfoundland. TRUEFOAM president Eric MacNearney said the company's main focus since its inception has been to develop better ways to use superior insulating properties of expanded polystyrene, or EPS, in both residential and commercial construction. Architects, contractors, and do-it-yourselfers alike turn to EPS building materials, which are "breathable," eliminating concerns about mildew and dry rot. "There's a lot more R value per dollar with the EPS foam. It's probably the most effective way to spend your money for insulation," Mr. MacNearney said. TRUEFOAM offers a complete range of EPS insulation products for all types of buildings. The custom-made Tapered Roofing, for example, offers the designer more flexibility, combines with savings. In masonry construction, TRUEFOAM's Cavity Wall insulation is an economical alternative. The TRUEFOAM product line starts with Foundation Plus for the exterior concrete wall and under the slab. TrueWall is a popular and economical method of insulating the interior of the basement. TRUEFOAM has also developed an alternative system, InsulWall, which incorporates the rigid EPS right into the wood stud wall, eliminating problems of moisture, air infiltration and thermal bridging. Special products are also available for insulating attics and catherdral ceilings. [back] |
