Insulation is what TRUEFOAM Limited is all about. TRUEFOAM has been making insulation products in Atlantic Canada since 1968. Over the years, TRUEFOAM's product line has evolved from simple foam boards to advanced construction systems and specialized packaging. But it all remains based on a single material: expanded polystyrene.

Expanded polystyrene, or EPS for short, is a simple material with a unique combination of qualities. It offers high resistance to the passage of heat energy, making it a very effective insulator. It is also economical, offering high R-value per dollar.

The basic TRUEFOAM manufacturing process begins with tiny spherical beads of polystyrene. To form TRUEFOAM EPS, the beads are expanded and consolidated in a process of steam heating and pressure treatment. Blown up to as much as 40 times their original diameter, the beads are fused by pressure into huge blocks of EPS. Over a curing period, normal air replaces the blowing agent in the foam cells, and any residual moisture from the steam evaporates.

The basic EPS blocks are cut and shaped to produce a variety of TRUEFOAM sheet, board and panel products, including TRUEWALL, TRUEFIT, FOUNDATION PLUS/SHEATHING, INSULWALL, INSULWORKS and others.

For certain TRUEFOAM products, such as ICEBLOCK and STYROPACK shipping containers, the polystyrene is shape moulded during final expansion.

TRUEFOAM EPS is structurally rigid and stable, yet very light. It is easy to cut and shape using the simplest of tools. It produces no irritating fibres or annoying dust. TRUEFOAM EPS products make the job quicker, easier and more pleasant for both contractors and do-it-yourselfers.

TRUEFOAM has been manufacturing EPS since 1968 and it has been used in construction around the world since 1951. It's not something new! EPS sheets and panels cannot sag or bunch. EPS insulation is unaffected by freeze-thaw cycles. It cannot rot, mould, or deteriorate over time.TRUEFOAM insulation's R-value is permanent.

TRUEFOAM EPS insulation resists the passage of water, yet it "breathes." Vapour passes through. This avoids condensation buildup within walls, a serious problem which can arise with some other insulation systems. And because of the rigid closed-cell structure of EPS, there is no possibility of the kind of air movement inside the wall which can lead to heat loss in loose or blanket materials.
